Social networking future 'difficult to predict'

It is hard to forecast how advertising on social networks will develop, the co-founder of Google observed on Thursday.
Sergey Brin told a conference in Israel this week that while the medium's relationship with marketing campaigns was progressing, taking a guess at where this progression would lead was difficult, Reuters reports.
"Things have been going well this year...it's hard to predict where social networking will come out," said Mr Brin at the conference, which was being held to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel.
Advertising on user-generated communities such as Facebook and Bebo was improving, the co-founder said.
He also commented that an immediate transformation of the market should not be expected as such developments always take time.
Google is the most prominent provider of search engine advertising in Britain, a new Efficient Frontier Europe report has suggested.
Mr Brin told the conference that the next steps for advertising on social networks would be educating providers and users, as well as developing the necessary technology and business strategies.
