Teens use Facebook to avert fashion faux pas

Teenage girls are using social networking site Facebook to ensure they do not duplicate dresses at their formal graduation ceremonies, it has been reported.

According to the Vancouver Sun, girls are posting photos on the site of their new gowns in school-specific groups on the site, claiming "your dress is THE most important thing you have".

Mary Sanseverino, who is affiliated with the computer science department at the University of Victoria, claimed that social networking applications have made online communication more accessible to students.

"Even three years ago, at least one person would have to be very technically savvy [to create the group]," she stated.

Web browser Flock - which enables users to manage and update their social networking accounts - beat Bebo, MySpace, Ning and Facebook to win the award for best social networking site, the The Guardianreported.
