User-generated content on new Daily Mail site

The Daily Mail has elevated its adoption of user-generated content with a recent website redesign, according to one report.

E-consultancy observes that the tabloid new web presence gives blogs and reader comments "slightly more prominence than before", adding links to the day's top blog posts and articles that have received the most comments.

The website design also features a less cluttered homepage with more white space, while the top news story is emphasised more above the fold, the publication states.

However, the slow page load speed is reportedly a problem - the news provider comments that users can easily be deterred by pages that take a long time to load.

And the site could reportedly improve by adding subsections for its navigation options, so users can easily find a comprehensive selection of articles on sport, celebrity news or current affairs.

The Guardian's recent overhaul of its website design saw navigation options for some sections made accessible via a drop-down menu, the publication reported in February.
