Yahoo! has increased the number of keywords marketers can exclude, the company has announced.
On the Yahoo! Search Marketing blog, marketing communications managing director Roger Park reports that excluded keyword limits have risen from 50 to 250.
Despite its negative connotations, exclusion is actually a positive concept in the field of search marketing, explains Mr Park.
The tactic enables marketers to hone their business planning and ensure that only the most relevant searches lead to their site, he notes.
Due to the extension, professionals should reportedly be able to exert more control over Advanced Match traffic and will be more likely to receive targeted leads.
"Identify the keywords that do not apply to your business but may be commonly used by potential customers," it is recommended.
Meanwhile, new figures from Nielsen Online have revealed that Google was the top US search engine in January.
