A new website has been launched with the aim of catering to deaf consumers.
People with difficulty hearing are being invited to visit Deafies.co.uk, a new online presence featuring a variety of information and entertainment options and updates.
The initial line-up of news, blogs and forums is to be eventually boosted by a greater depth of content, according to a spokesperson for the site.
"The reaction so far has been favourable and we have some great ideas for the site in the coming weeks and months," says the deafies.co.uk representative.
Communications are to drive the new modifications to the site, with a webcam through which users can communicate among the forthcoming features.
And a cohesive relationship with other web services catering to deaf people is sought by the site, which intends to link its users to other internet presences catering to the demographic.
The Royal National Institute for Deaf People reports that there are some nine million deaf or hard of hearing people in the UK.
