Pioneers prepare Web 3.0 revolution

Internet experts are hailing the emergence of an online revolution, in what has been dubbed Web 3.0.

Summarising the current 2.0 phase as one of 'front end' web design improvements and harnessing of the collective mind, web pioneers are mapping out a new phase of 'back end' key index renewal.

The upshot, say experts, will be a Web 3.0 phase that gives the net its own brain-like functions, allowing it to make connections and offer relevant support beyond present search capacities.

Nova Spivack, founder of pioneering Radar Networks, said that "we're about to enter the third decade - Web 3.0 - which is about making the web much smarter."

He explained that "we're nearing the end of the second decade - Web 2.0 - which was all about the user interface", indicating that user-generated content, links and shared information would give way to new forms.

A key innovation in web engines entering the next phase could the emergence of 'natural language searches', where programmes can make 'knowledge-based' links between different keywords.
