Report: Web to account for 15% of US ad spend

The internet will account for over 15 per cent of all US advertising spending by 2013, it has been predicted.
According to eMarketer, online marketing will make up 15.2 per cent of the advertising sector in four years' time, compared with 8.7 per cent last year.
It explained that the web's share of spending is increasing by at least one per cent per year at present, suggesting that marketers are cutting budgets for traditional media while investing more in their online strategy.
David Hallerman, senior analyst at eMarketer, said that the web tends to attract companies due to the fact that it is more measurable than newspapers and other media.
"This produces more efficient advertising and higher ROI, which in turn pushes traditional media to compete with lower pricing," he remarked.
According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau, US spending on online marketing rose by 10.6 per cent last year compared with 2007.
