White House launches Digg-style question site

The White House has launched a website that lets US citizens pose questions to the president and enables others to rate these in a similar fashion to social bookmarking sites Digg and Reddit.
Open for Questions was launched earlier this week and will see president Barack Obama answer the top rated questions in an online town hall on the economy to be streamed via the White House website today (March 25th).
The website is moderated by the community and users can upload videos of themselves asking their questions.
A blog post on the White House site states that the Open for Questions for website is focused on "encouraging transparency and accountability".
"Open for Questions is ... the president's latest effort to open up the White House and give Americans from around the country a direct line to the administration," it says.
Mr Obama made extensive use of social media as part of his election campaign last year, setting up profiles on sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
