A new forecast has predicted that the UK advertising sector will expand rather than contract from the third quarter of this year.
The last two years have seen the industry suffer a decline in overall revenues as a result of the recession, with the internet being the only channel to see an upturn.
However, according to a new report from the Advertising Association and Warc, this could change later this year.
Rufus Olins, Warc chief executive, explained that there were signs pointing to the worst of the recession being over back in autumn 2009.
He added: "Prospects for a return to growth in adspend later this year are now good."
According to the report, digital marketing spending rose by 3.7 per cent in the first nine months of last year, with the internet's overall share of advertising expenditure also rising by four percentage points.
PricewaterhouseCoopers predicts that the internet and mobile channels will represent almost 80 per cent of the overall growth of the worldwide global entertainment and media sector over the next three years.
