Firefox maker Mozilla has launched a new mobile browser for alpha testing purposes.
The browser, Fennec, offers a number of the same features as Firefox, including tabbed browsing, the smart address bar and a pop-up blocker.
In addition, users can click on any number located on a web page to call it. The launch is geared towards getting website development experts to test the usability of the browser.
The release can currently only be run on Nokia N810 Internet Tablet devices and desktop PCs.
"The focus of development so far has been on building a new user interface that reflects Firefox's design principles and adds touch-screen support and other features that are appropriate for mobile phones and other handheld devices," said Mozilla.
It also revealed that it will launch other alpha releases concentrating on issues such as performance in the future.
Mozilla launched the first beta version of Firefox 3.1 earlier this month.
