Flash Player 10 has been launched by Adobe Systems, offering a number of new features compared with previous versions.
The rich media application includes an updated text rendering engine that offers more text layout options for developers, as well as support for elements such as native 3D transformation and animation and custom filters and effects.
According to ReadWriteWeb, the new version of the player should mean that Firefox users previously unable to access Flash videos can now do so after installing the updated tool.
Flash Player 10's new features will also be available on the Adobe AIR web development platform by the end of 2008. The launch of the new player coincided with the availability of design and development software collection Creative Suite 4 (CS4).
"CS4 and Flash Player 10 introduce vital time-saving features, new levels of integration and the jaw-dropping innovations our design and developer customers expect from us," stated John Loiacono, senior vice-president of the Adobe creative solutions business unit.
