About 900,000 blog posts are made on the web every day, according to a new report.
The first part of Technorati's State of the Blogosphere 2008 report also revealed that the blog rating website has indexed 133 million blog records in the last six years.
According to the statistics, 7.4 million blogs have been posted in the last 120 days, with 1.5 million being posted in the last week.
Most of those polled by Technorati said they used advertising on their blogs, with the mean annual investment in each blog equating to $1,800 and mean annual revenue standing at $6,000.
Furthermore, four-fifths of respondents said they upload posts relating to brand or product reviews, while a third of bloggers have been approached by organisations to become brand advocates.
"Blogging continues to splinter into many different categories, providing an incredibly rich ecosystem of self expression tools and compelling content for readers," commented Michael Arrington, founder of TechCrunch.
A number of major corporate executives currently maintain a blog as part of their online strategy - Google co-founder Sergey Brin recently started his own blog at too.blogspot.com.
