New research has suggested that almost two million unique US web users visited Google Chrome's 'thank you' page in the week following the browser's release, website development professionals may be interested to read.
According to Nielsen Online, this indicates that these users downloaded the application, representing some 1.4 per cent of all online Americans between September 1st and 7th.
Furthermore, the release of Google Chrome generated a significant level of online discussion, with the buzz surrounding the product peaking on September 3rd, the research company said.
Jon Stewart, research director for technology and search at Nielsen Online, commented: "The browser was mentioned in nearly one per cent of all online discussions the day after its launch a respectable slightly-more-than-half of what the highly anticipated iPhone 3G generated when it launched earlier this summer."
According to Tony Patton of TechRepublic, however, the range of tools that Chrome offers to web developers to help them work with online pages is not as extensive as might be hoped.
