The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has launched a new website design for its online publication.

Visitors to wsj.com can now see a brand new layout and design incorporating better horizontal navigation, extra free content and further benefits for the WSJ's subscribers.

Among the new features are a new social networking feature, Journal Community, as well as an all-new Management section and more content on the What's News and Heard on the Street pages.

Each section also has a Newsreel displaying text and visual content related to the top stories in that section, while the website makes use of a new video player and photo slide show tool.

"We will be providing general readers with an easier-to-navigate selection of great reporting and fine writing, while our fast-growing global business audience will have access to a far greater range of analysis and intelligence," commented Robert Thomson, managing editor of the WSJ and editor-in-chief of Dow Jones & Company.

In July, it was announced that the WSJ digital network saw 24.2 million monthly visitors on average during the second quarter of 2008, representing a record figure.
