Browser compatibility advice offered by Google

Search giant Google has moved to offer advice on building websites that are compatible with all of the major browsers following the launch of its own such application, Chrome, last week.
Maile Ohye, Google developer programs tech lead, said in a post on the Webmaster Central blog that there are several important website design principles to bear in mind when aiming to make a site viewable in all browsers.
She emphasised the importance of creating sites accessible by search engines through the implementation of HTML rather than more complex AJAX coding, for example.
This, along with using validated code, can do much to help a website look the same in most browsers, Ms Ohye said.
Usability testing and the utilisation of error detection tools were also recommended by the expert, who said: "When your site renders poorly or is difficult to use on many browsers you risk losing your visitors' interest and, if you're running a monetised site, perhaps their business."
According to research firm Net Applications, Google Chrome currently accounts for more than one per cent of the overall browser market.
