A new green and ethical shopping website has been launched by online auction site eBay.
The website, Worldofgood.com, features items that are made from natural or recycled materials, are organic or have been created by citizens of developing nations, according to the company.
It makes use of social media elements such as articles, blogs, message boards and question-and-answer forums and utilises a verification system involving organisations like Transfair USA, Co-op America and Aid to Artisans.
Robert Chatwani, general manager of Worldofgood.com, said: "Regardless of the social causes most important to consumers, they can easily shop for items according to a variety of different attributes, allowing them to customise their shopping impact."
The launch follows a recent piece of research, the Centurion Luxury Living Index, which showed that ethical shopping is becoming increasing popular among consumers with high income levels, according to a report in the Independent.
