More Americans 'accessing Olympics sites during working hours'

Traffic to Olympic websites during working hours surged in the US on Monday (August 12th), according to a new report.
Compiled by Nielsen Online, the study showed that NBC's Olympic site saw a 140 per cent increase in visitors to its video streaming section on Monday, with Yahoo!'s own website for the Games also seeing an 85 per cent traffic rise.
The research company said the findings highlight the general trend of sports websites being a popular destination for those keen to follow tournaments and competitions that run during working hours.
"While the Olympics were until very recently a packaged primetime TV event, they now represent a 24/7 opportunity for both fans and the media. The available inventory online provides a really interesting platform for the Olympics' long-tail events," commented John Gibs of Nielsen Online.
Another Olympics-themed report published by the company this week showed that US athlete Michael Phelps is currently the most talked-about Olympian on the internet.
