A project to redesign the UK parliamentary website at Parliament.uk has resulted in a number of major usability and accessibility improvements for the benefit of web users.
This is according to House of Commons commission spokesman Nick Harvey, who said in response to a question put forward by MP Jo Swinson earlier this week that a number of enhancements have been made in the last two years as part of a "radical upgrade".
These included revamped visual design and navigation, a new online parliamentary business calendar and a section describing the role of parliament and its procedures.
Mr Harvey also said that the site had seen the addition of deposited papers in a web-friendly format and "a greatly improved search facility".
A commission set up by the Hansard Society recommended in 2005 that the parliamentary website be "radically improved" to make it "consultative, interactive and easily navigable".
