Adobe has announced that it is working with search engines Google and Yahoo! to help web users look through Flash content more easily, in news relevant to the website design sector.
The company said that it has provided its Flash Player technology to the duo in order to enhance search indexing of the SWF file format, which will eventually allow Flash-rich sites and applications to become more visible to engines.
Google is currently in the process of rolling out changes to its engine, with many Flash sites now visible in its search listings, with Yahoo! scheduled to follow suit in due course.
On the official Google blog, software engineers Ron Adler and Janis Stipins explained that the search engine had developed a new algorithm that could be used to index Flash text content, including that in menus, banners and buttons.
"Until now, it has been extremely challenging to search the millions of rich internet applications and dynamic content on the web, so we are leading the charge in improving search of content that runs in Adobe Flash Player," remarked David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president of the platform business unit at Adobe.
