US broadcaster NBC has revealed that it is to ramp up its online coverage of the forthcoming Beijing Olympics.
The network's Olympics sports website will offer more than 2,200 hours of live footage throughout the event, as well as making use of live blogging and 3,000 hours of on-demand highlights, the Associated Press reports.
In addition, NBC's site will provide daily recaps and analysis, with users also able to take part in fantasy league gaming - something that could make other sports website owners consider similar tactics for their own services.
Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics, said that the broadcaster was "excited" about the new offering.
"We think it will generate a tremendous amount of engagement. We think it will generate more television viewership," he commented.
The report came shortly after NBC announced a deal with the World Championship Sports Network to create an Olympics TV and online network.
