E-commerce may receive a boost from a new demographic searching tool launched by Google.
Marketers using the new Ad Planner can find out which websites appeal to specific demographics by searching for specific characteristics such as gender or age.
Users can also see lists of searches for specific websites if they "drill down further", explained Emel Mutlu on the Inside AdWords blog.
Google has the best corporate reputation in the US, according to Harris Interactive's Reputation Quotient survey, reported Reuters this week.
The search giant last week introduced a similar tool entitled Google Trends for Websites, which the Inside AdWords representative explained differs from Ad Planner because it is aimed at the general public rather than media planners.
The blog post noted: "If you're a media planner at an ad agency, you know that planning an online display buy can be challenging, particularly in scaling your campaign's reach while keeping it relevant for your target audience."
