Load time now a factor in Google Quality Score

The amount of time a page takes to load is now a factor in the Quality Score that determines positioning.
Google has announced that landing page load time is now one of the factors that influences keywords' Quality Scores.
"Keywords with landing pages that load slowly may get lower Quality Scores (and thus higher minimum bids). Conversely, keywords with landing pages that load very quickly may get higher Quality Scores and lower minimum bids," Heather Lane of Inside AdWords explains.
As landing pages are evaluated regularly, any company that reforms its website design to speed up load time should see an improvement in the quality score assigned to its keywords.
Usability improves when load time is quicker, while conversion rates can be harmed if users are more likely to abandon a page out of frustration, the site points out.
Meanwhile, Google has topped comScore's website rankings in May 2008, a new report shows.
