People who want more than one networking membership will find it easier to transfer information between websites thanks to a new product launched by Google.
Friends Connect is billed as having the ability to bring friends together from different networks by the simple cutting and pasting of code snippets.
It will also "enrich" user experience with online gadgets and applications, such as member management, message board, reviews and picture-sharing.
The main "gadget", says Google, is the members gadget, which provides core social networking features for your visitors, who sign in with their existing account and links them to their friends across a host of other social networks.
Ultimately this means someone who uses Friends Connect will make more friends via introductions through existing friends, Google claims, without the need for everyone to duplicate accounts across these social networking sites.
Forrester research company principal analyst Charlene Li told BBC News: "Google is tapping into the 'all things social' heat of the moment, but it's adding a different perspective, not as a data source and social network 'owner' but as an enabler."
