Microsoft has revealed that it is launching tailored Facebook and Last.fm services for the Xbox Live network.
This will mean that users will be able to access the two social media services via their TVs.
Facebook users will be able to update their statuses and upload photos, as well as use Facebook Connect to share top gaming achievements with others on the social network.
The Last.fm service, meanwhile, will let users stream millions of music tracks from the internet directly through their TV sets.
"We're not only extending the walls of your living room beyond your home to your friends in different corners of the world; we're creating the definitive social network," commented John Schappert of Microsoft.
Over one billion pieces of content are shared by Facebook users around the world every week.
The social networking site now has more than 200 million active users globally, with over 100 million logging on every day.
