Firms 'concentrating on implementing CMS'

Businesses are increasingly investing in the implementation of their content management systems (CMS) rather than licensing, it has emerged.
New research carried out by Econsultancy and software firm Squiz.net found that 45 per cent of firms are looking to invest more in CMS implementation in the next 12 months.
This is compared with 26 per cent stating that they intended to spend more on CMS licences.
Linus Gregoriadis, research director at Econsultancy, said the findings could be attributed to the fact that businesses are not yet getting the value they need from their content management platforms.
"Companies are typically investing more on implementation to ensure that their chosen CMS can be used effectively and truly deliver on their business requirements," he remarked.
Earlier this year, a report from CMS Watch suggested that CMS vendors are increasingly including the open source Lucene engine for website search in their content management products.
